ABOUT ME

who I am and how I got here

Shannon Shreibak (they/them) is a Chicago-based writer, editor, and multidisciplinary artist who believes that good stories build connection. They’re currently the Things to Do Editor at Time Out Chicago, where they shape cultural coverage, spotlight local gems, and help readers make the most of city life.

Before joining Time Out, Shannon spent a decade leading digital marketing and content strategy in the music and healthcare industries—crafting campaigns, partnerships, and brand voices that sparked curiosity and connection. Earlier in their career, they worked as a psychotherapist, a detour that deepened their commitment to empathy, active listening, and authentic communication—values that continue to shape their creative and strategic work.

Outside the newsroom, Shannon’s multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of memory, identity, and sound—through fiction, essays, and textile art inspired by pop culture and the Midwest’s DIY music scene. Whether developing editorial features or brand narratives, Shannon’s work blends strategy and soul, turning insight into stories that move people.
